The GYSO becomes a member of the European Federation of National Youth Orchestras (EFNYO)

The European Federation of National Youth Orchestras (EFNYO) has announced that it has chosen the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO), as its member.

The GYSO is thus the only Greek Youth Orchestra, which has had the honor to participate in the EFNYO.

The EFNYO has announced regarding choosing the GYSO as its member:

«EFNYO is delighted to announce that the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra has chosen to be part of the EFNYO network and will join the federation’s activities from 2019 onwards. Already in March 2019, a musician of the GYSO will take part in a European bootcamp dedicated to the training of young musicians in the field of music communication and outreach skills in Glasgow. EFNYO wishes its new Greek member a thriving future, and is more than happy to share the results of the emerging collaboration».

Statement of the EFNYO President, Renate Böck

Mrs. Renate Böck, EFNYO president and general manager of the Wiener Jeunesse Orchestra of Austria, has stated regarding the choice of the GYSO:

«“The European Federation of National Youth Orchestras (EFNYO) is a unique platform for the exchange and knowledge transfer among managers of pre-professional youth orchestras throughout and beyond Europe. In its 25 years of existence, EFNYO has invested substantially in the growth and reputation of national youth symphony orchestras. Through its cooperation project MusXchange, which receives co-funding under the Creative Europe Programme of the EU Commission, EFNYO contributes to supporting the career paths of young musicians and shaping the future of symphonic music in Europe. We are delighted that the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra has chosen to be part of the EFNYO network and will join the federation’s activities from 2019 onwards. Already next week, a musician of the GYSO will take part in a European bootcamp dedicated to the training of young musicians in the field of music communication and outreach skills in Glasgow. We wish our new Greek member a thriving future and are more than happy to share the results of our emerging collaboration.”».

Statement of the Music Conductor of the GYSO, Dionysis Grammenos

«The participation of the GYSO as a member of the European Federation of National Youth Orchestras is a new important and international acknowledgement of its work.

It is a great pleasure to start this collaboration in March 2019, through the sending of a GYSO musician to Glasgow, and to continue it, offering opportunities to other young musicians to participate in projects and activities outside the borders of our country.

The involvement of young GYSO musicians with the National Youth Orchestras of other countries abroad, as well as the high level of education they shall receive through this collaboration, will be valuable assets for the further development of their music career».
