Greek National Opera

One of the most active flutists in the country, Nikos Nikopoulos has been praised by the press for his “velvety, rich-in-shades sound” and his “impeccable virtuosity”. With a multifaceted presence in musical matters, he has been a principal flautist of the Orchestra of the Greek National Opera since 2000 and has collaborated as a first flute with Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, the Thessaloniki City Symphony Orchestra and the Camerata. As a soloist, he has repeatedly collaborated with the Athens and Thessaloniki State Orchestras, the Camerata, the Symphony Orchestras of Athens and Thessaloniki as well as with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Prague Virtuosos, the Chamber Orchestra of the University of Leeds, the Chamber Orchestra of the Greek National Opera, etc.

He is a graduate of the School of Humanities of the Hellenic Republic and of the Royal Northern College of Music, and holds a Masters Degree (MMus) with distinction from the University of Leeds and a special soloist Masters Degree from the Zurich University of the Arts. In 2011-12, he taught at the Zurich University of the Arts. In 2001, he was a finalist and won a special prize at the JEUNESSES MUSICALES international competition in Bucharest.
