Amsterdam Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra

He has been described as one of the best contrabassists of his generation. He began his studies at Boston University and within a short time managed to distinguish himself in many international competitions, even winning the the Bach Festival Society Award. He has appeared as a guest at the International Society of Bassists Convention in San Francisco and the Texas Double Bass Symposium as well as in many radio broadcasts in the Netherlands and America.

For consecutive years, he was a member of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra. Earlier, as a student at Karajan Akademie, he played with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Pops. In 2013, Nicholas Santangelo Schwartz became a member of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, while together with world-renowned pianist Anna Fedorova he has formed the “Oyster Duo”, performing in concerts in Europe and the United States with the aim of promoting the double bass as a solo instrument.
