Orchestra of the Greek National Opera
Georgios Faroungias studied bassoon at the National Conservatory of Athens with K. Samoilis, and in Freiburg with Karl-Otto Hartmann, on a scholarship of the Onassis Foundation. He was a member of the famous Consortium Classicum and principal bassoon of the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed with many orchestras in Greece and abroad as a musician and soloist.
He is a member of the Orchestra of the Greek National Opera, and also a member of the Contemporary Music Ensemble. He is also a founding member of the KYKLOS ENSEMBLE and the “Aeolos” Woodwind Quintet. In addition, he performs on the contrabassoon and the baroque bassoon. He teaches at the Athens Conservatoire and the Corfu Conservatory.
