Daniel Ottensamer

Daniel Ottensamer is, since 2009, the Solo Clarinettist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna State Opera.

He has won awards at international clarinet competitions, including the Carl Nielsen International Clarinet Competition (Denmark, 2009), and has appeared as a soloist with famous orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Mozarteumorchester Salzburg and NHK Symphony Orchestra (Tokyo), under the baton of distinguished conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Gustavo Dudamel, Andris Nelsons and Ádám Fischer.

In chamber music he collaborates with musicians such as Angelika Kirchschlager, Barbara Bonney, Thomas Hampson, Bobby McFerrin, Julian Rachlin and Mischa Maisky. He is a member of “The Philharmonics” and a founding member of “The Clarinotts”, whose first album was released in 2016 by Deutsche Grammophon. Daniel Ottensamer made his debut in discography with SONY-Classical, recording the Clarinet Concerto of W.A. Mozart. His recording of Johannes Brahms’ and Carl Maria von Weber’s clarinet sonatas was released by Classic Concert Records.
