Achilles Liarmakopoulos

He is one of the most important trombonists of his generation and a member of the legendary Canadian Brass ensemble since 2011.

He is a graduate of the Yale University School of Music, the Curtis Institute of Music, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Philippos Nakas Conservatory, and has received scholarships from the Alexandros S.Onassis Foundation and the State Scholarship Foundation.

He won the position of principal trombone of the Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra and regularly performs with leading orchestras around the world.
He has toured extensively as a soloist and as a member of the Canadian Brass throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia, performing in some of the world’s greatest halls and teaching at prestigious educational institutions.

He has won numerous awards in international competitions, including three International Trombone Festival competitions, the Christian Lindberg International Competition, the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe (YMFE) competition, and others.

His discography includes six personal albums, six CDs with Canadian Brass and numerous classical, pop and Latin music recordings. Since 2014, he has taught at Brooklyn College of New York University’s Brooklyn College and the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

He is also a member of the popular band Pink Martini.
