– A historic collaboration of the orchestra with the leading classical music channel –
Another distinction is added to the record of the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO), which has signed a collaboration agreement with medici.tv, the world’s leading online platform for classical music broadcasting.
Initially, the orchestra’s concert from Carnegie Hall in New York, under the musical direction of Dionysis Grammenos, will be broadcasted through the platform. The concert featured the Symphonic Dances from Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story”, selected Greek Dances by Nikos Skalkotas, and the composition <<rewind<< by Anna Clyne. The concert will be available for streaming on medici.tv from February 12, 2025.
A documentary about GYSO’s work will also be available on the French channel in the spring of 2025, which presents moments from the orchestra’s journey, through backstage material, interviews, footage from rehearsals, as well as some of its most important concerts, from its founding in 2017 to the present day.
By joining medici.tv, the GYSO places itself among an elite group of youth orchestras internationally, further confirming its high quality and wide recognition. Few other youth orchestras are featured on the platform, including the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America and the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela. It is also worth noting that the GYSO is the first orchestra from Greece to sign a collaboration agreement with medici.tv, marking a significant step in showcasing the Greek music scene internationally.
“We are particularly excited to begin our partnership with medici.tv and the opportunity to present our orchestra’s work to classical music lovers worldwide”, states Dionysis Grammenos, Founder & Artistic Director of the GYSO. “Our performance at Carnegie Hall is a dream come true for all of us, as well as a recognition of the dedication and talent of the young Greek musicians”.
Cloé Falgas, medici.tv’s Executive Director, states that “medici.tv is deeply committed to supporting young musicians, and we are honored to broadcast the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra for the first time. Their Carnegie Hall debut is a significant milestone, and we are excited to share this moment with global audiences. It’s also a special occasion as we welcome our first Greek orchestra to medici.tv.”
