The GYSO at Megaron - the Athens Concert Hall

The Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO) inaugurates the new artistic season with a concert at the “Christos Lambrakis” Hall of Megaon – the Athens Concert Hall, on Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, at 20:30.

In anticipation of its debut performance at the prestigious Carnegie Hall, in New York City, the GYSO -Megaron Youth Orchestra in Residence- presents a dazzling program under the baton of its Founder & Artistic Director, Dionysis Grammenos, which includes <<rewind<< by British, Grammy-nominated composer Anna Clyne, a selection of Nikos Skalkottas’ Greek Dances, as well as Leonard Bernstein’s beloved Symphonic Dances, based on themes from his musical “West Side Story”.

The programme balances between the modern, sophisticated, “national” (yet so personal) language of Skalkottas, the danceable, melodic and in every way uplifting writing of Bernstein and the contemporary style of British composer Anna Clyne, who is in demand at the highest level across the globe and was named by Bachtrack as “one of the top ten most performed contemporary composers in the world”.

This concert is co-produced by the GYSO and Megaron – the Athens Concert Hall.
