The musicians of the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO) present selected chamber music works by Schumann and actor Emilios Hilakis plays the great romantic composer in Chryssa Xourafa’s play. The compositions to be performed include Kreisleriana for piano, songs from the song cycle Dichterliebe (“A Poet’s Love”), the Quartet for strings, the Fairy-tale pictures for viola and piano, and the Five pieces in folk style for cello and piano.

The introverted, thoughtful Eusebius and the fiery, insane Florestan are two voices in Schumann’s mind and constant companions in creation, as is Clara’s wife. The GYSO presents a work that combines music and theater to the standards of the great composer, who wrote music for many literary works and loved theater and literature almost as much as music.
